As an Art Director working with the General Motors branding, I collaborated closely with a Creative Director and the brand team to deliver compelling visuals across diverse platforms.
My responsibilities included designing print ads, user interfaces, website layouts, animated banners, social media integration, and mobile apps for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.
Throughout this process, we were conscientious of our target audience, ensuring that the messaging aligned seamlessly with the brand's identity and resonated effectively with viewers.
We had the exciting opportunity to visually conceptualize an internal Learning Journey tailored for Allianz, focusing on human anatomy. Our team was equipped with a detailed 3D model featuring internal organs, enabling users to explore and delve into the intricacies of the human body.
We designed the customized user interface to not only outline the various chapters within the training program but to match the sleek visual aesthetic of the 3D model.
Storyboards were created to present to the client a comprehensive view of the user's interaction with the interface and model as they progressed through the learning journey.
Additionally, we undertook the task of digitally painting various states of musculature and specific organs or tissues affected by disease. As an illustrator, we enjoyed the challenge of interpreting medical reference to accurately depict disease pathology on our 3D models for greater visual fidelity and education.
This compilation presents an array of concept art derived from diverse projects, demonstrating my versatility when working with different styles. The imagery constitutes an exploration of backgrounds, characters, and props, offering insight into my creative versatility and proficiency.
I had the privilege of leading the transformation of a client's internal Corporate Educational Interviews.
Leveraging my technical proficiency in shooting an interview and experience in motion graphics, we seamlessly integrated the two to craft educational videos that combined the human explanation with animated visuals, enriching the concept's clarity and engagement.
In collaboration with the videographer, I orchestrated the setup and shot selection for each shoot. Attention to detail was crucial, as we carefully framed shots to accommodate on-screen graphics and text, considering the location and spacing around interviewees.
Throughout the filming process, I provided support to those being interviewed, recognizing the inherent pressure of being on camera. In collaboration with Learning Experience Designers we made preparatory measures to ensure a smooth and efficient shoot day.
Furthermore, I undertook various tasks, including storyboarding motion graphic sequences, animation, illustration, composing underscored music, colour correction of RAW footage, and final editing. These efforts were aimed at elevating the video's quality and enhancing its impact.
As I am bound by a non-disclosure agreement, I focus solely on highlighting my approach in art direction and technical proficiency.
Consequently, I refrain from displaying the faces of individuals interviewed and avoid mentioning specific projects, topics, or utilizing graphics that may inadvertently disclose content.
As an Art Director, our team undertook the responsibility of designing and regularly updating Lean Cuisine's monthly e-mail newsletter and web banners. This platform served as a vital communication channel, keeping participating customers informed about new products, gathering valuable feedback through questionnaires, and offering exciting opportunities to win prizes through contests.
Our goal was to create a user-friendly and visually appealing experience that reinforced the brand's commitment to customer satisfaction and innovation.
In my role as Art Director, I had the exciting opportunity to create animated banners for some of the gaming industry's most iconic titles for Xbox.
The first project involved commemorating the 10th anniversary reissue of the original Halo game, which underwent a remarkable remastering. We conceptualized a design where the frame was the iconic helmet shape of the game's main character, Master Chief.
A dynamic toggle bar allowed users to seamlessly compare the visual enhancements between the original game and the remastered version.
For the release of Gears of War 3, our team crafted a captivating animated banner that showcased the intricate design of the characters' armour against a backdrop of atmospheric darkness, reminiscent of the immersive gaming experience.
In my role as a storyboard artist, illustrator and designer, I had the privilege of collaborating with a talented team of Learning Experience Designers and programmers to develop an innovative video game prototype.
The game's premise revolved around two characters embarking on a journey through various challenges, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, emotional intelligence, time management, and negotiation. Serving as a metaphor for real-world business skills, the game offered a dynamic and engaging platform for players to hone their abilities.
I am a big believer in blending education with entertainment, particularly for individuals who are required to learn new concepts or skills for their professional development.
This project taught me the importance of creating immersive and impactful learning experiences for user retention and showcased the potential of gamification within a learning sphere.
We had the opportunity to storyboard, character design and illustrate a humorous training module around the release of Roger's NHL Package.
The concept was developed to show the Rogers employees training alongside professional hockey players in anticipation of the release, aiming to infuse a lighthearted tone into the training experience.
We were able to utilize our skills in 2D frame by frame animation as well as our ability to caricature some of the NHL's most recognizable figures.
I had the wonderful opportunity to become part of a team as a storyboard artist for the beloved children's show Octonauts. During my tenure at the studio, we had the privilege to contribute to three feature films now available on Netflix. Working closely with a Director and Storyboard Supervisor, our task was to transform scripts and character audio into engaging storyboard animatics for various scenes.
Regrettably, due to a non-disclosure agreement, I'm unable to showcase any storyboards from these films. However, I can share the test I provided to the studio, which ultimately led to my inclusion in the team.
This experience was truly enriching, offering invaluable insights into the power of storytelling and the meticulous attention required for each panel.
Music is written by me.
During the winter of 2021, I embraced the opportunity to challenge myself by participating in The Indie Film Music contest. This contest involves scoring a short film and submitting it for feedback, with a panel of judges selecting their favourites.
As someone who has always been passionate about music and a dedicated enthusiast of film scoring, I found the premise of this contest particularly intriguing. The impact that music can have on visual storytelling has always fascinated me and I try to implement music in all my storyboards to further express tone and pace.
Initially, I entered the competition with the sole aim of receiving professional feedback. However, to my delight, my composition was given an 'Honourable Mention' award.
At the time of the competition, my wife and I had just welcomed our newborn son into the world, and I was juggling full-time work commitments, leaving me with limited time for writing. With her blessing, I took a few nights out of the week and I managed to piece together a piano composition with the intention of orchestrating it during the holiday break, though time did not permit.
Nevertheless, I was provided with amazing feedback from a Film Scoring professor at USC and I learned so much from this process. I am very pleased with the outcome of my composition and hopefully I will be able to participate in another one soon.
In my role as an Art Director, collaborating closely with the Creative Director and branding team, I had the privilege of creating numerous print materials, web banners, and global takeovers for HP's 'All in One' campaign.
